i thought heard you calling
down below
echoes off the walls of gorges
giggling water sprites
mocking lovers and jumpers alike.
stepping lightly
choosing my trail
to avoid nature-laid traps
gravel thirsting for scraped knees
mud hungry for loose-tied shoes
at the bottom
i spent forty days and forty nights
searching
all i found was a curiously shaped rock
which i put in my pocket
intending on gifting it to you
i followed the water
having no other destination in mind
then,
years later
i walked into the sea.
